Fresh, Practical, Simple
At the heart of Lower Hutt’s CBD is Riddiford Garden – one of the most significant stretches of green space in the city. It is also key to an exciting redevelopment of the area, including a new multi-function events centre, Council building refurbishment, sunken lawn/informal amphitheatre, skateboard area, basketball court, and amenities.
Central to the design brief was developing the gardens as a popular, safe and vibrant part of the CBD: boosting local pride; attracting visitors, city workers and families; and inspiring constant use.
Of course, providing convenient facilities that encourage people to gather, socialise and stay is crucial to achieving those goals. Urban Effects worked with project partners to supply the smartest commercial barbeque solution: an energy-efficient, user-friendly, versatile and safe cooking plate that could be installed quickly and easily into their striking custom-made benches. The energy efficient electric Urban Inbench Cooking Plate just plugs in, providing a 270°C cooking temperature with patented hotplate which is designed to minimise the power usage for the maximum BBQ cooking experience.
Sitting alongside the barbeques is a stylish rectangular Fuente water fountain with decorative drain grille. Strong, elegant and incredibly functional including catching its own water, it’s perfect for this modern urban space.
